Who Is Francesca Fratamico?

Francesca is a young and talented writer, publishing her first book, Emeralds Among the Sand at the age of 21-years-old.  Much of her inspiration comes from her creative imagination and Italian heritage.  Francesca has always been an avid reader, which has helped develop her own unique style of writing and inventive storytelling.

Francesca brings to life a beautiful, remote part of Italy through her stories. Her writing style and personal knowledge of the lesser known regions of Abruzzo and Molise. These were the places of her childhood holidays, spent with Italian relatives in the mountain town of Castelmauro.

Her novels are deeply characterised by interesting and mysterious characters and stories adding full of depth and enriched by immersion in the local history and culture.

The Adriatic Trilogy

The Adriatic Trilogy is a series of stories centred around the beautiful Gulf of Vasto overlooking the Adriatic Sea in southern Italy. Emeralds Among the Sand is the opening book of the trilogy, taking place in the historic fishing town of Termoli. The book features a complex love story surrounded by mystery, revenge and crime.

Veils of Smoke is the second book of the series and was published in September 2022.  Set on the other side of the gulf, in the large town of Vasto, it centres around a young girl in her twenties, following her struggles in love, self-esteem and relationships.

The third story of the trilogy, A Love like Hell, is set in the town of Castelmauro and is a complex story of love and murder. It explores how plans and dreams can be dashed through things out of our control. This story is set to be published on 28th July 2023.

The Gulf of Vasto has a special place in Francesca’s heart. Castelmauro is her paternal family's home, and many happy summers have been spent exploring the town and its surrounds.
